I don’t know about you, but I was crying when I watched Ann Curry this morning on The Today Show. It was almost too difficult to watch. Ann is a good egg. A good person. When I was producing for Ann at the Today show, she was always warm and approachable. What you see with Ann on the screen, is what she is really like in “real life”.Warm, classy, stylish, soft spoken… I bet what a lot of you don’t remember is that before the 10 am hour was Kathie Lee and Hoda, it was Ann, Natalie, and Hoda. I was their Senior Producer. VERY girl power group!!! Fun too!
Ann went along with a lot of my craziness. I decided one day that we should cut Ann’s hair off. It was really long at this time. She said, Okay, but only if we donate it to LOCKS OF LOVE. GREAT IDEA! The next thing you know, Ann is out on the plaza- everyone is wearing a tee shirt supporting Ann cutting off her hair. With a few snips- Ann”s hair is cut into a short bob- leaving about 10 inches on the ground!! She was a trooper! And by the way, if you ask me… she looks better with shorter hair! lol
For one of her birthday’s, my friend Debbie and I gave her an “OM” necklace. Symbolic in the yoga world- to create harmony and unity. That is Ann. Debbie and I on the other hand are type A personalities, so Ann was probably good medicine for our souls! Ann loved the necklace and wore it everyday on the air. I hope she still has it!!
But, as I have said in the past, this happens to the best of us, For most, it’s not in such a public forum. Ann will rebound and do what she loves to do- travel and cover hard news! Ann, you are one class act, and that certainly showed through this morning!!! I am lucky to have worked with you!!!
